{ Viaje a la Luna con George Méliès y Neil Armstrong }

En septiembre de 1902, George Méliès estrenó en París su película Viaje a la Luna inspirada en los cuentos de Julio Verne. El canal TCM emitió hace poco un documental sobre el reciente proceso de restauración, ya que en Barcelona se encontró una copia en color (se pintaban a mano, fotograma a fotograma). 110 años nos separan de esa película de fantasía, desbordante. En 1902, quedaba un año para que los hermanos Wright hicieran volar su aeroplano. Y 8 años para que Ford pusiera en marcha su cadena de montaje de automóviles. Y nada menos que 25 años hasta que Robert Goddard construye el primer cohete de combustible líquido, que es el primer paso serio de la astronáutica. Desde "Viaje a la Luna" al descenso del Apollo 11 pasan 67 años, toda una vida.

A pesar de que en la época de Méliès salir de nuestro planeta era sólo un sueño de locos visionarios, quedé sorprendido por los paralelismos de Le Voyage des la Lune y el desarrollo real del programa Apolo. Con la noticia del fallecimiento de Neil Armstrong la pasada semana, decidí realizar un montaje que intercala imágenes y sonidos de la carrera espacial, especialmente del Apollo 11, en la película. La versión subida a YouTube está subtitulada al español (se aprende mucho intentando traducir jerga astronáutica).

Sirva, pues, de pequeño homenaje y recuerdo a Armstron y Méliès. Y a Verne, a Tsiolkovsky y Kepler...
